Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Words of Culture. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1. About Words of Culture

Words of Culture is a digital platform providing daily wisdom, proverbs, and sayings from African and Caribbean cultures. We operate at wordsofculture.com and via mobile applications on iOS and Android.

2. Your account

To access certain features you must create an account. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your account credentials secure
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate information when registering
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised use at support@wordsofculture.com

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Subscriptions and payments

Words of Culture offers the following paid plans to remove advertising:

• Monthly — £0.99 per month, billed monthly, cancel any time
• Annual — £10.00 per year, billed annually
• Lifetime — £24.99 one-time payment, no further charges

Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your account settings or through the App Store / Google Play at any time.

We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods, except where required by UK consumer law.

4. Refer a friend programme

Our refer a friend programme gives both you and a new user one month ad-free when they sign up using your unique referral code. Referral rewards are subject to the referred user completing registration. We reserve the right to modify or end the referral programme at any time.

5. Content and intellectual property

The quotes, translations, explanations, anthem lyrics, and other content on Words of Culture are compiled by us for educational and cultural purposes. Many proverbs are traditional and in the public domain. We make every effort to attribute content correctly.

If you believe any content is incorrectly attributed or infringes on intellectual property rights, please contact us at legal@wordsofculture.com and we will review and address it promptly.

You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute our original content (explanations, translations, app design) without permission.

6. User-submitted content

When you submit a quote through our "Submit a Quote" feature, you confirm that:

• The content is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• You have the right to submit it
• You grant us a non-exclusive licence to publish it on Words of Culture

We review all submissions before publishing and reserve the right to decline or edit submissions.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Words of Culture for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
• Post or submit offensive, hateful, or misleading content
• Use automated tools to scrape or harvest our content
• Impersonate another person or organisation

8. Advertising

The free tier of Words of Culture is supported by advertising. Ads are served by third-party networks (such as Google AdMob). We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements. Upgrading to a paid plan removes all advertising.

9. Disclaimer

Words of Culture is provided "as is". While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of quotes and their attributions, we cannot guarantee completeness or accuracy. The app is for cultural and educational purposes only.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Words of Culture shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
